Teaching Your Children Proper Dental Habits

You may not realize it, but if cared for properly, your teeth can last a lifetime. This is why proper dental habits begin in childhood. That means teaching your children to brush, floss, and the importance of regular dental check-ups. Dr. Minda Sapir and Dr. Shabtai Sapir are dentists at Norfolk Family and Pediatric Dentistry located in Norfolk, MA. They can help you take care of your whole family’s dental needs.

Teach by Example

The best way to teach your young child how to brush their teeth is to let them watch you do it every morning and every evening. This will help them get into a healthy routine. There are also plenty of online videos of children of your child’s age brushing their teeth.

Make it Fun

Brushing your teeth with your children is a good start, but you need a plan to keep them interested. Reading stories about brushing can keep your child enthralled and help them enjoy oral hygiene.

Let Them Choose

There are numerous children’s toothbrushes based on characters from books and movies. Let your child pick one with their favorite theme. You can also try an electric toothbrush or water flosser for young children who are struggling.

Visit Your Dentist
