Types of Braces Offered At Our Practice

Braces are applied to teeth to correct issues with teeth alignment, overcrowding, crooked teeth, or poorly aligned jaws or bite. These days when it comes to braces you don’t have to opt for the traditional metal kind. You can find out about your options from Dr. Minda Sapir and Dr. Shabtai Sapir, who are dentists at Norfolk Family & Pediatric Dentistry in Norfolk MA.

Reasons You May Need Braces

Braces are used in different situations to correct many types of dental issues, including:

  • An overbite
  • An underbite
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Misaligned jaws
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Gaps between the teeth
  • A bad bite
  • Crooked teeth

Children between the ages of 1 and 24 are the best candidate for braces because their teeth, gums, and jawbones are still developing. However, older teens and adults can also use braces, although they may also need additional procedures. Talk to your Braces Norfolk specialist to learn more.

Types of Braces We Offer

Norfolk dental patients can choose from the following types of braces and orthodontic treatments:

  • Traditional braces: Conventional braces are comprised of metal strips or bands as well as metal or plastic brackets that are bonded to the teeth. In some cases, traditional braces may also have brackets that are connected to the back teeth. These are known as lingual braces.
  • Invisalign aligners: If you prefer more discreet braces, this is a good option. Invisalign trays are made from a transparent, flexible material that fits snugly over the teeth. They are practically invisible. Invisalign can be used for minor tooth issues. A series of retainers is created at the outset and you switch them out every few weeks. They can be taken out when you eat or clean your teeth.
  • Inceptive orthodontics: This type of treatment is designed for younger children, particularly those between the ages of 7 and 11 years. They are used to treat problems with oral development or early oral habits. The treatment is usually done in two phases. The first one when the primary teeth are in place and the second when the permanent teeth have grown in.
