In light of the coronavirus epidemic dentists, physicians and other health care providers are in a unique position to raise to the occasion. We at Norfolk Family & Pediatric Dentistry are committed to serve the community in need of emergency or urgent dental/ oral care.  We are aware that many dental practices are closed in order to minimize the spread of the virus. Nevertheless, in a statement issued on March 16, the American Dental Association (ADA) called upon dentists nationwide to alleviate the burden that dental emergencies would place on hospital emergency departments. The health and well-being of our patients is our top priority, now and always. We are available to provide urgent or emergency treatment to patients of record as well as patient’s that have no other dental provider available. Emergency treatment includes any abscess, or localized bacterial infection resulting in localized pain and swelling, tooth fracture resulting in pain or causing soft tissue trauma, dental trauma, dental treatment required prior to critical medical procedures, final crown/bridge cementation if the temporary restoration is lost, broken or causing gingival irritation. Other urgent dental care: Extensive dental caries or defective restorations causing pain, Suture removal, denture adjustments or repairs when function impeded, and replacing temporary filling on endo access openings in patients experiencing pain. For orthodontics any wires that have become loose or are causing discomfort.

We want to assure you that we are taking continuous steps to ensure that our office remains a safe place for every patient. We follow precautions developed by the CDC to protect both health care personnel and patients.
